Daria Restoration Project
Rebooting this would be really weird. The whole concept of Daria in high school was a product of its time, and nostalgia is a big moneymaker these days. It makes way more sense to see what the characters are up to, 16 years later. The audience for the original show won't be interested in revisiting high school, and who else would this be made for? I like the idea that Daria and Jodie end up becoming closer friends as they age because they're in a similar income bracket, while Jane kind of falls by the wayside because she never breaks out of poverty.

Plenty of animated properties get creative license to reinvent themselves repeatedly and have done so successfully. Be it Scooby Doo (Mystery Incorporated!), My Little Pony (Friendship is Magic) or Spider-Man (The Spectacular Spider-Man). I would even argue that some classic toons have been revisited with a great deal of success of late. Bugs Bunny (The Looney Tunes Show) and Mickey Mouse (Paul Rudish's recent revival). Primetime animated properties not aimed at kids haven't enjoyed a similar track record (outside of Beavis and Butt-Head) but it's not like there have been a plethora of attempts to revive properties, either. (I mean, I'd love to see more Downtown and Mission Hill but it ain't gonna happen.). I know this, what i say is why people are trying to suddenly project her parents and sister as trump supporters, it's a phenomenon you can notice on many fandoms where people project negative traits into associated characters to the protagonist, since Daria is an outcast, the audience wants to project everything the Main character is not into the family, so they can be 'obstacles' for Daria to over come.
It doesn't help that this is how many shows write characters, i would say modern simpsons is an example, often making Homer hold republican values (even tho he's always been apolitical) or Marge be a retrograde home maker with old timey values, just so they can be used as antagonistic devices against Lisa.
: Aulus: Two years, I got the boxed DVD set of the series for my daughter's 35th birthday. The only drawback was most if not all of the original music was gone, due to copyright and royalty issues. Vengeance avenger. However, she said it held up very well and her then 15 year old dsaughter enjoyed it a lot, as well.
I got the DVD set of Beavis and Butthead for Christmas years ago and the same thing with the videos. Was dissapoint as the riffing on the videos was the best part. Well that and Coach Buzzcut. Format undangan pernikahan.
Back in high school, my daughter used to refer to her vice-principal as Vice-principal Buzzcut, as he was an equally hard ass disciplinarian. 'Daria's insistence on not giving in to to the cult of appearances seems particularly relevant today, in a world where 'building your brand' is more important than ever. At a time when people eagerly put themselves into various boxes, the insistence on individuality over groupthink is becoming more and more an act of resistance. The social pressure to smile on cue doesn't end when we leave school or the office, but continues as we curate our online personas, from the pictures we put on Facebook and Instagram, to the things we choose to share on Twitter.' Thing is, I've just taken a look into the writer of this, and everything about her screams 'feminist-liberal-o-tron'.
